GIRL SCOUTS SEW FOR PATIENTS

Girl Scouts of Hyde Park Troops 141 and 215 with gifts for Saint Francis Hospital patients

Poughkeepsie
- A group of 12 Girl Scouts representing Hyde Park Troops 141 and 215 recently brought gifts to Saint Francis Hospital. The girls and their adult leaders left bags of small, heart-shaped pillows with Bob Hess, Guest Services director and Patient Representative. The pillows will go to past-operative patients.

"The pillows assist patients when coughing and for deep breathing," explained Hess who thanked the girls in behalf of the hospital and its patients. The two Troops have been sewing and donating pillows to the hospital for several years as a service project.

"The ladies at the Senior Center at Castle Court on Vassar Road worked with the girls to make the pillows," said Troop Leader Debbie St. Onge, accompanied by Kelly Variano, a parent helper. "It's a learning experience for the girls and they have fun. It's a simple pillow to sew, not really complicated, and it makes them feel they made something without really getting stressed out about it."
